It is interesting when talking about sports in Oxford, and also Cambridge as well as there are many university events that are taking place with some good teams on display.
We can start with football and the main sports team is Oxford United who play in League Two and have been on a yoyo journey for the past few decades as well as gaining much recognition in the process. It has to be noted that they were playing in the then top flight division back in the days and even won the league cup as well. However decline was soon to follow and this spanned well over fifteen years.
Oxford United play their home games at the Kassam Stadium which is named after the owner of the stadium and this was built back in 1997. It has a reasonable capacity of well over thirteen thousand and with what it can offer, the stadium is thirsty to host bigger games than it does at the moment.
We also have the Oxford City Football Club as well and they play in the Southern Football League. There are also various hockey fields in the area as well.
